There are a myriad of reasons why one would want to lose some weight. The main reasons border around health fears and improving our physical appearance. Therapeutically, it has been proven that persons who are overweight can reduce their chances of diseases like stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure and even cancer, by losing weight. These two reasons, among others, have made the weight loss business one of the largest sectors in the health and fitness industries.
Industry players including health practitioners, doctors, fitness specialists, sporting bodies as well industry critics are all in the look for the most effective and efficient weight loss strategies that will work for different type of weight problems. This has resulted in a market flooded with weight loss programs hugely marketed to the waiting audience. Most of these programs promise short term fix it plans, claiming to help cut piling pounds in as less as two weeks. As your doctor will tell you however, they mostly are only marketing gimmicks and that the only effective weight loss mechanism must be a laid out middle to long term plan that will not have drastic effect on your body.
Contrary to what you may have heard, there are no one-off tricks and one day fix it solutions to weight loss. It took years, even decades, to have the weight pile up and any program promising to have this cut in a week is only beating the laws of nature. Indeed, some of the most efficient and effective weight loss tools are the very common things we hear and ignore daily, preferring to go for the more complicated expensive programs. Simple things as adding a few steps of walk every day, taking an extra glass of water, avoiding indulgence in expensive yet harmful foods, are all handy tips to weight loss.
Today’s lifestyles largely go against any weight loss program, unless an intentional side step from one’s normal routine is taken. The fast foods we eat, the many drugs we rake into our systems, sitting in offices all day, driving instead of walking, all add up to the problem. These are things that did not exist a generation ago and the problem is only getting worse with time. It is scary to think what health issues our children and their children will face later in life.
In light of all these issues, it is very prudent to take those small steps, one day at a time, to avert any crisis pilling up. A stitch in time saves nine, they say. And oh how this is true, in trying to lose weight.
