They try crunches and leg raises, and just can’t seem to get anywhere. Or they thumb through some magazine and see how somebody looked like a Greek God in only 4 weeks, and they jump on that program. But many end up discouraged and still needing some way to help them get that weight off. But believe me, it’s going to take more than just crunches.

There are some facts to know about belly fat. One is that it can be genetic. In your genes are the preset conditions to have fat around your mid-section. There were probably times in centuries past when people had to have the belly fat to protect them from the cold weather. But in today’s modern world, for the most part, it’s considered an unwanted and unattractive thing by most people.

One thing about fat though, while you can never truly know how or why it gets store in different places in your body, you can do something about getting rid of it. And people get tired of hearing the same old thing, but a good exercise plan works better than most things. Of course everyone is looking for the shortcut, the little magic pill that will do it for them. It’s like hunting for unicorns.

Aerobics are a good form of exercise for losing weight. This form of exercise is one where you keep your body moving for at least a ten minute period. It increases your heart rate and strengthens your lungs. And it also burns fat. And when you burn fat, if you have belly fat, that will get burned too.

A few examples of aerobic exercises could be swimming, rollerblading, hiking, walking, or jogging. If you’d rather get involved in some type of sports activity, then this works great as well. Soccer, or basketball, or tennis. These are all great ways to enjoy burning fat. They all get your heart rate up and burn fat. If you like golf or bowling, these help your body move, but not really in an aerobic way.

Pilates has become a favorite of many for improving muscle strength. This kind of exercise focuses on your core muscles of your stomach. You don’t specifically burn belly fat with this type of exercise, but you do tone up your muscles so your body will begin to take a more attractive form. So come at your weight loss with a good attitude and find a way that’ easy for you to do regularly, and soon you too can get the belly fat off and enjoy a new lifestyle.
